What is THE best NLP book? In true NLP-style, we need to ask the question: “Best in what way? To whom?”
Check out this quick video to a run-down of my favorites.
There are many different NLP books to choose from, and of course you’ll need to decide based on the specific application you’re looking for.
Generally speaking, I like NLP Comprehensive‘s New Technology For Achievement for overview of NLP. They are loaded with good content and good for most people looking to do self-improvement.
When it comes to more specific “practitioner” training, I recommend L Michael Hall‘s User’s Manual For The Brain. His writing is very in-depth and thorough. In addition, I really love his Meta-States model, which he introduces throughout his books.
User’s Manual For The Brain part 2 is based on the master practitioner level materials and is excellent as well. The master training level has a large number of content areas, and each trainer appears to focus more attention on some areas than others. I think Hall does a great job at covering all of them, and including some of his own additions as well.
When it comes to NLP sales techniques, a staple is Richard Bandler’s Persuasion Engineering. As with all of Bandler’s older works, his books are transcripts from live workshops. These can be tough to follow because there obviously isn’t the visual component, and also he doesn’t tend to dive much into the specific how-to’s of techniques.
Another Bandler classic is User’s Manual For The Brain. This book is very entertaining as it provides almost a sneak-peak into the mind of Richard and how he tends to think when approaching the challenges his clients present with.
The list can go pretty deep for more specificity, but I find most people are comfortable getting started on these recommendations for what is the best NLP book. And a strong warning! There is a LOT of information in these books, so don’t rush through it! Always focus on absorbing the material and even more importantly – USE IT!
