Can You Teach Yourself NLP? – You Need To Know This First

Can-You-Teach-Yourself-NLP

Can you teach yourself NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)?

With such a vast model with so many intricate parts, don’t you really need a teacher?

For pretty much the entire history of the field of NLP, it has been routinely taught in short, and highly intensive trainings. These trainings usually last anywhere from 7 to 21 days.

It includes a mix of seminar-style learning with breakout parts to practice techniques and get feedback.

But, what happens AFTER the training?

Usually, you’re on your own. You learn ALL of that information, then are left to go out and practice on your own without ongoing mentorship.

This is one of the primary issues I see with NLP training. Now, to be fair, some certification organizations offer ongoing mentoring and distance education to continue your journey into learning, but the vast majority don’t.

So, what I’m saying is, for the most part, teaching yourself NLP is often the standard practice.

Another consideration when it comes to teaching yourself NLP:

Do NLP On Yourself To Learn NLP!

One of the best ways to learn neurolinguistic programming is by doing the techniques on yourself.

Many people find this challenging, because traditionally, it’s at least a 2-person process, but it can easily be done.

In fact, I credit the majority of my learning of NLP tools with having done them on myself over the years and working with my own internal experience.

Dealing with your own internal “stuff” when it comes to understanding how you frame things, what processes your mind goes through when experiencing certain situations, and overcoming the various “resistances” to change is extremely valuable.

I’m often my MOST challenging client! So, if I can overcome my own obstacles consistently, I can find a way to help other people with theirs.

So, to sum it up:

SO, CAN you teach yourself NLP? The answer is yes. Combining trainings/courses, mentorship, and self-practice can be the ticket to developing your NLP skills and mastery over the long-run.
